| | | Box Office Results: Barbarian & Brahmastra Lead Mediocre Weekend | | by Jeff Ames Sep 11, 2022 | | Disney led the way at the domestic box office with Barbarian (20th Century Studios), which earned $10 million in its first week of release, and Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, which hauled in $4.4 million in its debut frame. The latter also took in $19.5 million from India and the UK, per Deadline, which means Brahmastra kicked off its run with $26.5 million globally. Barbarian, an R-rated horror film that earned stellar reviews from critics, came in higher than expected, but wasn’t enough to propel the weekend beyond ho-hum results. Ironically, the Mouse House opted to release what might have been a decent-sized hit, Pinocchio, directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks, on Disney+. The live-action remake wasn’t particularly loved by critics, but name value and star power might have given the theatrical marketplace a much-needed kick at this point in the year. Elsewhere, Top Gun: Maverick passed Frozen II to become the No. 11 all-time grossing film worldwide and remains within firing distance of Furious 7, but odds are Tom Cruise’s blockbuster has finally run out of gas after accumulating a gargantuan $1.453 billion worldwide. Looking ahead, it’s possible we don’t see a decent-sized hit until Halloween Ends on October 14. Yikes. Top 10 Domestic Box Office Results - Barbarian, $10M (2,340 theaters) — $10M total (Week 1)
- Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, $4.4M (801 theaters) — $4.4M (Week 1)

RELATED: Last Light Interview: Matthew Fox & Joanne Froggatt When asked about why Last Light was the series to bring him back in front of a camera, Fox went into specifics: “On a storytelling level, I just thought that this beautiful family at the core of it and them being separated across continents in the midst of this crisis was … I’m drawn to that kind of thing. I think we all are,” Fox said. “I think we all relate to that, and I think we’re always invested in that, especially if we really care about the family. Hopefully, we’ve set it up in a way where you care about these characters immediately from the top. The macro sort of … this oil crisis and sort of what it’s doing to Europe and spreading quickly and the chaos that’s ensuing and the vulnerability and the risk … that’s always fascinating to me. Obviously, it’s very timely with what we have going on in the world with climate change and with war, with oil being weaponized. I feel like all those elements added to me being drawn to it on a personal note, to be really honest with you.” Fox was also thrilled about being an executive producer on the series. “I was excited about having an executive producer position and, for the first time in my career, I’d have an opportunity to be more involved in more aspects of the storytelling than just the character I’m defending and portraying,” Fox continued. “I was going to get an opportunity to do that with my managerial partner, Bill Choi. We had become very, very good friends and have similar tastes and we wanted to finally have an opportunity to collaborate creatively on something. So it ticked all those boxes for me. I was also, secretly, really excited to find out what it would feel like to get back in front of a camera and to act again, I hadn’t done that and hadn’t been on a set in seven years, and that was really rewarding. So the whole thing was an amazing experience.” RELATED: Last Light Interview: Amber Rose Revah Talks Strong Women & Marvel “In the series, Petro-chemist Andy Yeats knows how dependent the world is on oil; if something were to happen to the world’s oil supply, it would set off a chain reaction: transportation would grind to a halt, supplies would cease to be delivered, law enforcement would be overwhelmed,” reads the synopsis. “While on a business trip to the Middle East, Andy realizes that his worst fears are coming true and his family is separated at this crucial moment. His teenage daughter, Laura, is alone at home in London while his wife, Elena, and young son, Sam, are in Paris. Amid this chaos, each family member will sacrifice everything to find one another, despite the distance and the dangers that separate them.” The post Why Matthew Fox Returned to Acting With Last Light appeared first on ComingSoon.net. | | | | | Netflix Schedule Additions: New TV & Movies Arriving September 12-18 | | by Tudor Leonte Sep 11, 2022 | | The much-acclaimed Cyberpunk 2077 video game expands into anime. However, one role she still can’t quite get over is one from the Netflix series Glow. RELATED: Alison Brie Would Like to Play a Marvel Villain in the Future The wrestling series, which was canceled by Netflix nearly two years ago, saw Brie star as Ruth “Zoya the Destroya” Wilder, a superstar in the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a real-life women’s professional wrestling promotion that aired in the 1980s. Speaking to Decider recently, Brie called the cancellation of the series “the great heartbreak” of her career. “It’s the great heartbreak of my career,” Brie said. “But it will forever live on as, like, this great thing. I loved working on it — maybe more than anything I’ve worked on! — and I miss it a lot. But I feel very grateful for the time I had on the show.” While Glow was initially set to receive a fourth and final season from Netflix, the streamer ended up changing course when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Unfortunately for those working on the show, production had already begun on the fourth season when the pandemic hit, and shortly after, Netflix announced that production would no longer resume, which Brie said was shocking, but somewhat became overshadowed due to Covid-19’s effect on the world. “Yeah, it was surprising!” Brie said of the cancellation. “But it was sort of eclipsed by the shock of everything that was happening globally. [Laughs] You know, so in a way, it was almost like it put things in perspective.” RELATED: Spin Me Round Trailer: Alison Brie & Aubrey Plaza Star in Comedy Pic Despite its cancellation, Glow was a fairly successful series for Netflix. The series earned 15 Emmy nominations over the course of its run, winning three, including awards for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour or Less) and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or Variety Program. In an interview released ahead of the Cobra Kai Season 5 release, Ralph Macchio talked about the moments he liked the most in the new season. As expected, one of them involved Mr. Miyagi. RELATED: Cobra Kai Season 5 Interview: Dallas Dupree Young, Oona O’Brien & Griffin Santopietro “I have two, one’s comedic and one’s dramatic,” said Macchio of his favorite moments. “I mean, there are plenty of scenes that I’m not in that are some of my favorites, but as far as the ones that I’m in, I love in Episode 10 being pulled out of the limo, with Mike Barnes and Johnny meeting, Barnes and Chozen meeting Barnes and them all going to storm the castle and Daniel LaRusso being very much like Ed Helms in The Hangover, trying to be the voice of reason and left out on his own. I love that stuff. I felt comedically at one with Cobra Kai in the Cobra Kai tone. It was one of my favorite moments. “[The other is] the end of Episode 6, walking into Miyagi’s old room at the house and the emotions that are there and that scene with Amanda and then the kids coming in and everyone sort of rallying behind Daniel LaRusso and feeling him that maybe not so young, but sort of that hero protagonist that he once was back in the original movie. It was a nice mirroring of that moment.” RELATED: Cobra Kai Season 5 Clip Teases a New Era for the Titular Dojo “Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town,” reads the synopsis. “With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.” The post Ralph Macchio Reveals His Favorite Cobra Kai Season 5 Moments appeared first on ComingSoon.net. | | | | | Paramount+ Schedule Additions: New TV & Movies Arriving September 12-18 | | by Tudor Leonte Sep 11, 2022 | | Paramount+ offers a variety of interesting content to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
