Thirty people were shot – including three who were under 15 years old – and at least four were killed in Chicago over the weekend, police said Monday.
Chicago Police Department reported 26 shootings throughout the Windy City, and four murders, with a possible fifth case pending autopsy results from the medical examiner, according to officials and sources.
The youngest surviving shooting victim, a 13-year-old male, had broken into a Kia on South Langley Avenue around 2:35 p.m. Sunday when he was confronted by the vehicle’s armed owner, police said. The owner, a 26-year-old concealed carry licensee, then pulled out a handgun and shot the alleged criminal, who was also armed with a weapon at the time, cops said.
The teen taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. The 26-year-old was questioned by police, and the incident is still under investigation.

Later that day, a 14-year-old girl was inside a home on the 1200 block of West 81st Street when she suffered a gunshot wound to her face and was critically injured, cops said.
Investigators determined a man "forced his way into the residence after a man inside the residence opened the back door," police said. The pair began physically fighting, at which point the gunman opened fire, and wounded the teenager, before fleeing, according to authorities.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital. Police have not provided any information regarding arrests or a suspect.

Meanwhile, Chicago officials are grappling with an influx of migrants who are being bussed into the state and city from Texas.

| Mossad Director David Barnea, in his first public speech Monday warned that if Iran signs a new nuclear agreement, this will not stop Mossad from carrying out operations in Iran. As head of Israel’s intelligence agency, Barnea said in a speech in Hebrew before the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism that ongoing negotiations between Iran, the U.S., and other countries are "based on Iranian lies" and made clear that Israel is not playing along. "It is important for me to stress we are not partaking in this game of closing the eyes. We are not turning away from the proven truth, we are relying on facts," Barnea said. "Even if a nuclear agreement is signed, this is not going to bring any immunity from Mossad activities," he added. "From this podium, as head of Mossad, I want to clarify the Iranian regime will not have any space for denial. The Mossad and its partners will expose and will continue to expose anyone who stands behind attempts for terrorist activities." Barnea went on to warn that "Iranian rulers have to be aware of the fact that activating any force against Israel directly or indirectly via proxy will be met with a very hurtful action on the land of Iran." That means, he said, that even if a proxy group such as Lebanese-based Hezbollah strikes Israel, the response would be directed at Iran, not Lebanon. While a deal appeared to be nearing fruition, it may be some time before anything is finalized. A senior Israeli official told Israeli diplomatic correspondents yesterday that "at this point, it appears that the agreement with Iran will not be signed until at least after the midterm elections in the United States on November 8." When a deal is made, Barnea warned, Iran will likely ramp up its aggression in the Middle East. "The Iranian regime is trying to be cautious in the midst of talks on the nuclear agreement, and we can only assume what will happen after there’s no political pressure," he said. Barnea returned from the U.S. over the weekend after meeting with American officials regarding the possible agreement. In the meetings, he said, he presented the consequences of signing the deal, which would include $90 billion Iran would gain in the first year and more every year after that, which he warned would be used to fund Iran’s terror proxies. | An Arizona left-wing attorney candidate attempting to lead the nation's third-largest prosecutor's office and several of her campaign staffers have expressed support for defunding police, according to a Fox News Digital review of videos and social media posts. Julie Gunnigle, the Democratic nominee for Maricopa County attorney, is vying to take the reins of the prosecutor's office while running on a progressive platform that includes prosecuting police officers through an independent unit in use of force cases, her campaign website states. Gunnigle's pledge targeting law enforcement follows her past rhetoric against officers and their unions. Gunnigle has expressed support for stripping and reallocating their funds, including redirecting at least $25 million away from the Phoenix Police Department. When asked about her stance on the movement two years ago, Gunnigle said that "Arizonans don't want militarized policing" and added she has been a proponent of '25 Saves Phoenix Lives,' a strategic reinvestment plan that would strip $25 million away from the police force. Months later, Gunnigle fielded a question on whether she backed cutting police budgets at the city council level or if she would lend her support to such calls. In response, she doubled down on supporting the initiative to siphon local law enforcement resources. Gunnigle has also said it is "reprehensible" to "take endorsements and to take money" from police unions and officers. The Arizona Democrat, meanwhile, wants to defund and abolish school resource officers. "We have over incarcerated our youth as well as our adults, but we've also done it in a particularly poor way with the inclusion of SROs at our schools," she said in a June 2020 interview. "So, one of the things that I've been focusing on is: What should the role of law enforcement be inside our schools? And I am a proponent of, first, eliminating SROs and diverting that money back to school counselors. So many of our students go to schools without counselors or nurses, and those should be the first-line responders when it comes to solving student problems." SEATTLE ROCKED WITH DEADLIEST MONTH IN RECENT HISTORY IN WAKE OF DEFUND POLICE MOVEMENT Gunnigle has also surrounded herself with anti-cop campaign staffers in her quest to become Maricopa County's top prosecutor, videos and social media posts show. Bruce Franks Jr., her campaign manager, supports abolishing police and has said "cops conspire to f--- up the lives of their constituents," according to his posts. "Stop trying to reform the f------ police! Defund and Abolish!" he posted on Facebook in April 2021. "When we say DEFUND the police, f--- your rebuttals on why it doesn't make sense," he wrote on Facebook that same month. Franks, a Democratic Missouri state representative from 2016 to 2019, previously recorded rap videos about shooting and stabbing people to death, the Daily Caller reported in 2017. "I off them if they snitch, I put a shotty to their body, send them straight to the reverend! I put them in a body cast, put them in a body bag, tie them to the bag of the Chrysler then it's body drag!" Franks freestyle raps in one of the videos. "A n---a speak my name, he will get slain!" Franks has collected more than $28,000 from Gunnigle's campaign, Maricopa County campaign finance records show. Gunnigle's committee paid $4,285 to Blaque Printing, which Franks incorporated in 2021, according to state business filings. Franks directly pocketed $24,000 for consulting services, the local records show. Dawn Penich-Thacker, Gunnigle's campaign spokesperson, has also backed the defund movement and called Arizona police officers a "national embarrassment" and "a menace." "Now-- immediately, in your next vote--we need culture change. We need job changes. We need massive budget refusals and re-allocations to social services, mental health care, and community services that we actually need," Penich-Thacker said during a June 2022 Tempe City Council meeting. "We need you to hold the department accountable, to show us your residents that you actually care that our police force is a national embarrassment for their failures and abuses and a menace to too many in our community," she said. During the meeting, Penich-Thacker said she was "horrified" by the Tempe Police Department, accusing them of having a culture of "misconduct, negligence, abuse of power and murder," in reference to the 2019 officer-involved shooting of 14-year-old Antonio Acre, who was killed while running away and holding a replica 1911 airsoft gun, Arizona Central reported. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has served as an advisory board member of the civilian review board overseeing the Tempe Police Department. Gunnigle's campaign has given $4,600 to Penich-Thacker for consulting services. "Julie Gunnigle does not have a platform of defunding the police and notes that the County Attorney has no role in law enforcement budget allocation in Maricopa County," Penich-Thatcher told Fox News Digital. "She supports the personal First Amendment rights of all Americans, including staff and volunteers," Penich-Thatcher said in response to questions on their anti-police views. "Billions of dollars are spent on a yearly basis on policing while public education is not fully funded," she wrote in July 2020. "Defunding the police isn't abolishing the police but allocating those funds to services that our communities need especially our black and brown communities. #DefundThePolice" Additionally, in July, Carrillo Dahl tweeted that police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement should be abolished. Gunnigle is attempting her second shot at landing in the Maricopa County Attorney's Office after narrowly losing the 2020 election. During the 2020 race, her campaign paid $354,000 to the E Street Group, a consulting firm co-owned by Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar's husband, Tim Mynett, records show. Mynett expressed his unwavering support of Gunnigle following her defeat. | An Illinois mayor sounded the alarm on "how dangerous" a state law that eliminates cash bail will be, arguing communities will be left more vulnerable and victims of crimes will lose "their constitutional rights." "We must not allow this law to stand as passed," Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau said Tuesday at a town meeting. "I can’t even begin to tell you how dangerous this act is." The Orland Village Board unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday demanding state legislators work with public safety representatives to address problems they see with the Safety Accountability and Fairness Equity Today Act (Safe-T Act). The village is mostly located in Cook County, the most populated county in the state. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the bill into law last year, provisions such as eliminating cash bail will take effect on Jan. 1 of 2023. The law makes Illinois the first state in the country to eliminate cash bail. ILLINOIS POISED TO END CASH BAIL AND POSSIBLY SET ALLEGED CRIMINALS FREE The Safe-T Act will also restrict who can be arrested, increase eligibility for probation for people convicted of some drug crimes, among other changes to policing and police training. Supporters of the law say it will make the criminal justice system more fair for Black, Latino and minority communities. The legislation has been criticized by politicians and law enforcement officials across the state, with Pekau going over in the town meeting the different ways the community will reportedly suffer if the law is implemented as is. "Someone could decide to live in your shed, and all we could do is give them a ticket," said Pekau, who is currently running for Congress. "This is a massive threat to residents of Orland Park, Cook County and Illinois." "But it doesn’t end here," said Pekau. "There is currently a bill in front of the house to remove school resource officers from our schools, which means no school resource officer at Sandburg High School. The city of Chicago has already done this," he said. "I personally do not want to see the city of Chicago become the standard for how we conduct public safety because they have abandoned their police officers, abandoned their residents and created a war zone full of criminals." A press release from Orland Park Village states that abolishing cash bail will affect "almost every offense," including "kidnapping, armed robbery, second degree murder, drug induced homicide, aggravated DUI, threatening a public official and aggravated fleeing and eluding." Town leadership also argued that victims of crimes will be denied "their constitutional rights," denounced how offenders released on electronic monitoring devices will need to be in violation of their parole for 48 hours before police can act, and police will no longer be able to remove trespassers from a residence or business. "It’s like they won’t stop until they destroy our communities and our society," Pekau said at the meeting. "We all need to take a stand against this, this is a very dangerous bill." Orland Park leaders are far from alone in decrying the law. Former state attorney and current state Rep. Patrick Windhorst said this month that the elimination of cash bail "will reduce public safety and lead to more crime in Illinois." Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley wrote a recent op-ed outlining that "400 criminal defendants will be released back into our community" due to the law. And Johnson County Sheriff Peter Sopczak warned that "the gates are open" and criminals and suspects are "going to be let out onto the streets." The Democratic governor has meanwhile celebrated the Safe-T Act as one that supports local police departments with funds and equipment such as cameras, and that the elimination of cash bail will prevent low-level criminals from sitting in jails for months. "We do not want someone in jail because they were arrested for a low-level crime like shoplifting to be sitting in jail for months or maybe even years," Pritzker said last month, according to the Center Square. "At the same time, someone who is a wealthy drug dealer, perhaps accused of murder and arrested, can show up with a suitcase full of money and get out of jail." The governor’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Orland Park leadership’s criticisms. When they arrived, they found a 37-year-old father of seven dead. Witnesses told investigators that a black Sedan parked in front of the victim's house and waited for him to come outside before a man stepped out of the car and "ambushed and executed," the victim, Captain Anthony Ginaldi told FOX 29 Philadelphia. Detectives told the TV station the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity. Terry Almanza joined "Fox & Friends First" Monday to discuss her efforts to fight for justice and stricter punishments for dealers responsible for distributing fentanyl. "In 2015, I lost my daughter Sydney, tragically to an unlawful delivery of MDMA, which resulted in her death. And unfortunately, the Chicago Police Department refused to investigate her case criminally," said Almanza, urging people to classify the deaths as poisonings, not overdoses. "I knew what took place was criminal, and I fought tirelessly to ensure that the persons responsible for unlawfully delivering her a lethal dose of ecstasy were brought up on charges and eventually convicted in 2018 of her homicide." "So advocating for justice in these cases is not going to bring back our children. But if it saves the life of another, that's why we fight. We fight to honor our children and just to save lives." Fentanyl, a powerful opioid up to 50 times stronger than heroin, was responsible for 71,238 of the record 107,000 fatal drug overdoses in the United States last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Fentanyl is brought across the southern border primarily by two drug trafficking organizations — the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, according to authorities.
